Iriver’s successful electronic dictionary Discple had to be revamped on the circumstances of newly available technologies and changing customer needs. Supported from start to end by thorough form studies, usability analysis and creative exploration of different material applications, Iriver Discple D250 emerged as the well-received successor to Iriver’s former ‘education workhorse’.
The Discple’s soft rounded shape is designed for comfortable handling inside classrooms or outdoors, and in combination with the muted colours conveys a professional subtle look, suitable for different kinds of educational and business environments. The user-friendly keyboard features physical hot keys for the most common interactions, making it much quicker to find specific dictionaries, and integrates seamlessly with the touchscreen-interface. Ultimately, the design provides a refined user experience, and accentuates essential interface functions with a shiny aluminum four-way key, while achieving enhanced visual differentiation to competitor products.
